Athletics is an extension of the classroom. There are many benefits to being a part of an athletic team including teamwork, sportsmanship, time management skills, and positive competition. Our goal is for the athletes to learn and compete, all while having fun.
HFCS has wonderful athletic facilities, including the Hornets' Nest and Scantlin Hall Gymnasium. The Hornets' Nest is a multipurpose field featuring areas for baseball, softball, soccer, and track. There is ample space for various HFCS team practices, which must be held on HFCS grounds, due to Diocesan policy. 93% of our middle school students participate in our sports program.
Please note that all parents and coaches must attend both a Play Like A Champion seminar and VIRTUS certified (safe environment training). The Play Like A Champion parent and coach seminars are offered at the beginning of the school year at Nolan Catholic High School. The VIRTUS certification is offered throughout the Diocese of Fort Worth. Visit the diocesan website to schedule your training at www.fwdioc.org.
Students in grades 6th through 8th have the opportunity to participate in the following Diocesan sports programs:
Fall
Winter
Spring
There is a participation fee per sport that ranges from $25 to $70.
HFCS Running Club
Students in Kindergarten though 8th grade are eligible to participate in the HFCS Running Club. Beginning in mid-October, the Running Club meets after school each Monday on the Hornets' Nest field. Students are taught how to stretch, warm up, and enjoy the sport of running. At various times during the year, students and their families participate in local races, such as the Heroes for Hope 5K.
